Appliques

Appliqué means "to apply" and in modern crafting it refers to the actual thing that you apply.

Often seen on wedding dresses, beaded appliqué adds another dimension to beaded clothing and accessories. Appliqué, if simply defined can be called a decorative patch.

Beaded appliqués enhance the dress area were the appliqués been sewn, beaded appliqués are for decorating dress. The elegant Beaded Appliqué’s are commonly used for of late, come to be used for embellishing dresses. Appliqué's look great on a dress. Many of them are often put together to make an interesting pattern. Sometimes different fabric is selected for individual patches in order to add texture, contrast and style.

In order to be considered beaded appliqué, the beading is done using one of two methods. Although it doesn't have a common name, the first method involves sewing them directly on to the finished garment, or sewing them "in situ." The second method involves making a patch, which is then sewn on to the finished garment.

Sequins and beads can be sewn onto garments individually or in pre-strung strands. If your design calls up for rows of beads appliquéing, you can buy sequins already strung together in strands. You can also find strands of small seed beads ready to be appliquéd onto a garment.

Bead appliqué in situ simply involves sewing beads directly onto a finished article of clothing in the exact place you want the design to be. Complex designs are difficult to trace and sew onto a finished garment, so bead appliqué in situ is best used for simple or repetitive designs.

This technique is best used to highlight significant areas of the print or pattern of the garment's fabric or the lines of its design. Unlike simple embellishment, beaded applique uses beads in great numbers in the execution of its designs.

Making a beaded appliqué patch is the method of choice when you want to create a complex design, add more dimension and depth to the beaded areas, or if you want to be able to remove the embellishment for use on a different article of clothing.
